Dance between heaven and paradise – Dance Company Nanine Linning
Nightmare or paradisiacal dream? Two aspects of the paintings by Dutch artist Jheronimus Bosch are dangerously closely linked. Nanine Linning was inspired by his works and honours him with an immersive theatrical experience in which modern dance and art merge in a breathtaking manner.

Even after 500 years, our fascination for Jheronimus Bosch’s work has not waned. HIERONYMUS B. is Nanine Linning’s homage to the genius of this Dutch master. The name Bosch stands for paintings that take their viewers far beyond the confines of reality to a fantasy world full of bizarre creatures where seduction and original sin are frighteningly close together. Like no other, he managed to link the secular and the religious, contrasting the struggle between humanity’s desire for earthly pleasures to the omnipresent hell and the accompanying punishment. This dynamic triptych, takes the seven deadly sins as its theme. The audience experiences the first and second part on stage, wandering around between the dancers and the third is viewed from the theatre. Linning juxtaposes the reassuring beauty of hope, forgiveness and love to the threat of hellish torture.
