In the run-up to the Jeroen Bosch Year 2016, the Bosch y Bosco foundation traced the Garden of Earthly Delight’s journey to Spain. In a certain sense the work portrays Europe. It was created during a transition between eras and has all the accompanying characteristics.

In 2016, Bosch Y Bosco will visit all the cities the Garden of Earthly Delights travelled through providing various lectures, concerts and a wonderful exhibition. The tour will end at the Jheronimus Bosch Art Center with a celebratory lecture by Dr Eric De Bruyn on 30 October 2016 and a concert that is part of the Muziekestafette [musical relay]. The accompanying exhibition by Sjon Brands ‘Vreemde Vogels Onderweg’ will also open that day.
Vreemde Vogels Onderweg is a joyous exhibition of winged airships. Sjon Brands will exhibit five feathered aerial palaces, opulent dream birds encrusted with outlandish structures and odd bird people. The playful structures are ingeniously assembled from recycled utilitarian objects and disposables, a floating kingdom of feathers, tea strainers, lamps, bottles, cogs, etc. Mountains of metal, wood, glass, porcelain and tens of thousands of feathers have been transformed into an uplifting landscape in a Dadaist dream world.
